An alleged trespasser tried to enter former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Southern California home Friday evening, news outlets reported.

TThe incident unfolded at Harris’ home on the Point Dume cliffs in Malibu while she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were not present, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday, citing spokespersons for Harris and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Celebrity news website TMZ, which first reported the incident, said it happened around 10:30 p.m. The woman was not arrested, according to TMZ and the Los Angeles Times.
“Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home,” Harris spokesperson Eduardo Negrón said in a statement, the Los Angeles Times reported. “They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly.”
Harris, who served as vice president under President Joe Biden from 2021 to 2025, previously served as a U.S. senator from California and as the state’s attorney general.

After defeating Harris in the 2024 presidential election, President Donald Trump revoked Harris’ Secret Service protection in August 2025. Secret Service protection typically continued for six months after vice presidents left office, but Biden had extended Harris’ protection for an additional year, through July 2026, before Trump’s revocation, the Los Angeles Times and other news outlets reported at the time.
Shortly after Harris’ Secret Service protection ended, the Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol stepped in to provide her with protection, including as she traveled for a book tour beginning in September 2025.
The Los Angeles Police Department discontinued its involvement in security details for Harris later that same week. KCRA earlier this year reported that the CHP’s continued security assignments had come at California taxpayers’ expense. KCRA further reported that the CHP and Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office, in response to California Public Records Act requests, have declined to disclose the cost of that security detail, describing it as “sensitive security information.”
The CHP continues to assist in the security detail but no CHP agents were present for Saturday’s trespassing incident, the Los Angeles Times reported.
