But the new Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver has some questions to answer if he is about to live up to that nickname.
Brown is expected to challenge Makai Lemon for the Eagles’ slot receiver role and could be their No. 3/4 receiver, if he can to stay healthy and be efficient in Sean Mannion’s offense
Brown signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Eagles in March that is fully guaranteed. He has a $1.3 million base salary after receiving a $3.7 million signing bonus upon signing.
He is coming off a two-year stint with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he had only 58 catches for 678 yards and five touchdowns over 18 games.
“Hollywood” Brown Needs to Be More Efficient for the Eagles
The Eagles, of course, traded A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots on June 1 but have spent all offseason trying to replace him. They signed Hollywood Brown, traded for Dontayvion Wicks and selected Makai Lemon in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Brown has been a No. 1 wideout in his career. He had 91-catch, 1,008-yard season for the Baltimore Ravens in 2021 before they traded him to the Arizona Cardinals for a first-round pick.

Yet, getting Brown away from Lamar Jackson proved his undoing. The 5-9, 180-pound wide receiver has just 176 catches on 297 targets over the past four seasons and could end up on the sidelines if the Eagles primarily play 11 or 12 personnel.
“Added to supply a vertical explosive threat,” Brooks Kubena of The Athletic wrote. “But at what volume? And at what efficiency? The 29-year-old’s snaps and targets dropped off last year with the Kansas City Chiefs after Rashee Rice’s return from suspension and as the Chiefs favored Xavier Worthy more.”
‘Hollywood’ Brown’s Role May Diminish as the 2026 Season Goes On
Brown is in camp to provide a veteran presence while Wicks and Lemon get comfortable with quarterback Jalen Hurts.
But that was his role in KC too, especially with Rice serving an six-game suspension. Four of his six starts last season came in the Chiefs’ first five games, and Brown had two-or-fewer receptions in seven of the Chiefs’ final 10 games.
Brown may start training camp with starters, with Lemon easing back in after a hamstring injury kept him out of minicamp. But the expectation is for Lemon, and probably Wicks who has just 18 starts over his first three seasons, to ultimately unseat the veteran Brown.
