Tyreek Hill found liable for battery by Miami jury. Where he could play next

Former Chiefs and Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill on Tuesday was found liable for two counts of battery by a Miami jury, but not liable for eight other claims made by his wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro, according to ESPN.

The jury in the civil case awarded Vaccaro $500,000 in compensatory damages, but she was not awarded punitive damages.

With the court case finished, Hill can turn his focus back to football. But that’s with the caveat that the NFL could still impose a suspension based on testimony in that civil trial.

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, last week told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that a deal with a new team could come in a matter of days, but he has backed off that timeline.

In an interview with Miami sportscaster Josh Moser, Rosenhaus said things were fluid for Hill, who is a free agent. The discussion took place before Tuesday’s verdict.

“I think a deal could happen anytime,” Rosenhaus told Moser. “We are looking for the right situation, the right contract, the right team, the right fit, the right approach from a medical standpoint. Tyreek’s feeling really good health-wise. I did say last week I thought a deal could happen at any time, but in the NFL, it really is day to day.”

Rosenhaus expounded on what would constitute the right fit for Hill, who suffered a terrible knee injury in September 2025. In addition to a dislocated left knee, Hill’s ACL was torn, along with other ligaments.

The Dolphins released Hill in February, a month shy of four years after Miami acquired him in a trade with the Chiefs.

“Well, you know, when you sign with a team midseason, you’d like to go to a winner,” Rosenhaus told Moser. “No. 2, as a wide receiver, you’d like to go to a team that needs a wide receiver. No. 3, you’d like to go to a team that’s got a pretty good quarterback. And No. 4, Tyreek’s going to bring a lot of impact. We’ve got to get a fair contract, and that’s always complex to negotiate in the middle of the season.

“So, kind of look at Tyreek as similar to guys that are traded midseason. (He) can really come in and help a team the second half of the year. He can help a team advance to the next level.”

The Chiefs check the first three boxes. They have a 4-0 record and have played in the Super Bowl five times in this decade, have a need at receiver with Tyquan Thornton out following ankle surgery and Patrick Mahomes, a two-time NFL MVP, is still KC’s quarterback.

Point No. 4 could be tricky. Hill’s knee injury was significantly worse than Mahomes’ and the Chiefs may balk at a hefty price tag just for a reunion. No one knows what to expect from Hill, who was once the fastest man in the NFL.

Rosenhaus also gave update on Hill’s recovery.

“I don’t know that he’s 100% today, but he’s close, and he’ll get there really soon,” Rosenhaus said. “But I think that’s probably something you have to wait until he gets out and practices and gets with the team before saying he’s 100% But he really is right there.”
