We haven’t seen much in the way of competitive gymnastics from two-time Olympic gold medalist Sunisa “Suni” Lee since her three-medal performance in the Paris Olympics. But after one-and-a-half years out of gymnastics, it appears she’s mounting a comeback.

Taking to Instagram this morning, Lee announced that she’s back and included a montage of some of her feats in the gym. She also did a voiceover stating that she’ll “do whatever it takes” to get back to the heights she enjoyed before.
“I know what I’m capable of,” she said in the video. “I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there.”
The video ended with the caption “This is more than a comeback, stay tuned.”

Suni Lee’s Gymnastics Career
Between 2019 and 2024, Suni Lee ranked as not only one of the best gymnasts in America, but in the entire world.
Her big break came in the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, where she won bronze in the uneven bars, silver on the floor exercise and gold in the team competition at the age of 16.
The following year, Lee was on the Olympic team in Tokyo, where he wowed the world with a gold medal performance on the all-around along with silver in the team all-around and bronze in the uneven bars.

Lee would compete at the college level for Auburn, where she dominated by winning a championship on the balance beam and runner-up on the all-around at the 2022 NCAA championships. Between 2022 and 2023, she scored eight perfect 10s.
At the Paris Olympics in 2024, Lee doubled her medal count with bronze medals in the all-around and uneven bars along with a gold in the team all-around.
But those medals would pretty much be the last that we saw of Lee in major competitive gymnastics. She did not compete at all in 2025.
However, with the Summer Olympics coming to Los Angles in 2028, it seems that the desire to add to that medal tally on home soil is becoming too hard for Lee to resist.
