Travis Kelce had plenty to celebrate after the Kansas City Chiefs opened their season with an impressive victory over the Denver Broncos.

Less than two days later, however, the longtime Chiefs star found his name attached to a completely different kind of story.
Kelce was identified by prosecutors as a victim in a multimillion-dollar investment fraud scheme involving Swiftarc Capital co-founder Siddharth “Sid” Jawahar, according to multiple reports. Jawahar was sentenced Tuesday to 11 years in federal prison after previously pleading guilty to wire fraud charges.
People reported that Kelce had invested in the Swiftarc Venture Labs Fund. Prosecutors did not disclose how much money Kelce invested or how much he may have lost.
The stunning development arrived shortly after Kelce helped Kansas City defeat Denver 31-10 in the Chiefs’ season opener.

Travis Kelce Named As Victim In Fraud Case
Kelce’s connection to the case appears to be strictly as an investor and victim.
According to First Alert 4, prosecutors identified the Chiefs tight end as one of the victims during Jawahar’s sentencing hearing in St. Louis. Prosecutors declined to provide additional information specifically about Kelce, citing their policy of not discussing individual victims.
People reported that Jawahar was ordered to pay more than $31 million in restitution.
Prosecutors said Jawahar misled investors while operating Swiftarc Capital LLC, funneling more than $35 million from investors into a single investment that was declining in value. Authorities said money from newer investors was also used to repay earlier investors and finance an extravagant lifestyle that included private-plane travel, luxury hotels and expensive dining.

Jawahar pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud before receiving his 11-year sentence.
Kelce’s involvement with Swiftarc was not entirely unknown before this week’s revelation. A 2021 Forbes report previously identified him as an investor in a fund created by the company.
What was not publicly known was that prosecutors would eventually identify Kelce as one of the victims of Jawahar’s scheme.
Neither Kelce nor the Chiefs had publicly commented on the revelation as of the initial reports.
Kelce Coming Off Big Chiefs Performance
The off-field news comes during an eventful opening week for Kelce.
The 36-year-old helped Kansas City roll past Denver on Monday night, catching three passes for 71 yards. His biggest play was a 59-yard reception, his longest catch since 2021.
That performance also pushed Kelce past Jason Witten into second place on the NFL’s career receiving-yardage list among tight ends. Only former Chiefs star Tony Gonzalez remains ahead of him.
Kelce even expressed frustration afterward that he failed to turn his 59-yard reception into a touchdown.
Now, the conversation surrounding the Chiefs star has abruptly shifted.
Kelce has spent much of his career making headlines for what he has accomplished on the field, while his celebrity away from football has grown enormously in recent years. This time, however, his name surfaced in a federal fraud case for a much different reason.
Prosecutors say Kelce was among the victims.
