University police received reports of the shooting at Parking Structure 3 around 7:15 p.m., Sacramento State spokesperson Becky Repka said in an emailed statement. The parking structure is across Stadium Drive from the football venue, Hornet Stadium, and is the main parking structure for spectators.
The suspect in the shooting has been detained, Repka said, but the public was asked to continue to avoid Parking Structure 3 as law enforcement continues to investigate.
University spokesperson Michelle Willard told The Sacramento Bee just after 8 p.m. that no one was hurt in the shooting.

“Everyone is safe. No injuries have been reported at this time,” Willard said. “The game is remaining as normal and operating as scheduled. We just ask that guests avoid Parking Structure 3.”
The Sacramento State Police Department in a 7:35 p.m. social media post said: “Dangerous situation! Shots fired. Police responding. Avoid Parking Structure 3. (Stadium) shelter in place until all clear is given.” The Sacramento State Police Department in an 8:10 p.m. update said the shelter in place order at the stadium had been lifted and that there was no ongoing threat.
The scene inside Hornet Stadium appeared normal, with the game proceeding as usual during the first half, with no announcements made on the stadium’s public address systems.
