Mexico returns to its iconic home stadium riding a 26-match unbeaten run at the venue. El Tri has also been one of the tournament’s most impressive teams, reaching the Round of 16 without conceding a goal.
England, managed by Thomas Tuchel, earned its place in the knockout round with a 2-1 comeback win over DR Congo. Captain Harry Kane scored both goals to send the Three Lions through.
The buildup to the match has also been affected by severe thunderstorms and heavy rain in Mexico City, creating difficult conditions around the stadium ahead of kickoff.
Fans in the United States can watch the match in English on FOX and stream it on FOX One. Spanish-language coverage is available on Telemundo, with streaming on Peacock.

The Altitude Factor
One of England’s biggest challenges will be dealing with the altitude in Mexico City. Estadio Azteca sits 7,350 feet (2,240 meters) above sea level, where the thinner air can make breathing more difficult, accelerate fatigue, and affect the flight of the ball.
England manager Thomas Tuchel acknowledged the conditions have already taken a toll on his squad. He admitted several players felt the effects of the altitude during training, with some struggling to catch their breath after intense sessions.
“My understanding is we cannot adapt to the altitude. It is impossible.” He noted that while they cannot fully adapt, they are trying to manage the disadvantage.
Despite the challenge, Tuchel said England has adjusted its preparation to help the players adapt as much as possible before facing Mexico in one of world soccer’s most demanding environments.
