Winters police said Winters Middle School, 425 Anderson Ave., and Shirley Rominger Intermediate School, 502 Neimann St., were vandalized Monday night, along with vehicles, fences, sidewalks and other property. A racial slur was spray-painted on one vehicle, though police said the vehicle’s apparent owner was not a person of color.

Camera footage provided by the Winters Joint Unified School District helped officers identify the teen as a suspect, police said. The teen and his parents were contacted by police Tuesday, and he was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism.
