As fans, players and die-hards, it’s just time to “suck it up, buttercup.” The 2026 season will just have to grind itself out as we look for rays of sunshine to focus on or come up with creative drinking games during each Dolphin outing.

Will RB De’Von Achane break 100 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs? Hopefully! and Drink up!
The Salary Cap has us up against the wall with nowhere to run to and no moves to make so we just have to grin and bear it and pray the team doesn’t go 0-17.
It All Comes Down to Coaching – And Execution
Head Coach Jeff Hafley has been straightforward in postgame press conferences admitting to needing to do a better job coaching during the game. But he also made a valid point. Pretty much yelling at a professional athlete is a moot point. You’ve got to get back to better coaching.
“We gotta hit the field goals. That’s two misses in two games that we’re counting on him to make those kicks. And I mean, I’m not sure what to tell you about the punt that we dropped. You just got to catch the punt. Keep your head up and catch the ball. No matter what I say to him, guys, there’s nothing that’s going to change the outcome. You could be as angry as you want. You could say whatever you want to a player in any of the situations. When a player makes a mistake, when a player busts something, they’re not trying to, right? So you got to figure out why it happened, and you need to coach them so it does not happen again. He’s been punting for a really long time. He’s got to catch the ball.”

Slowik Has to Keep Working What Works
Early passes to fullback DJ Herman were a huge success and big surprise. Were they the last option for quarterback Malik Willis? Or a new wrinkle? No matter, it worked and needs to be drafted into future game plans as a permanent feature.
Finding room to run for De’Von Achane is key as he doubled his output from week one but still didn’t crack the 100-yard mark. The Kansas City defense has been stout in past seasons.
Elite Coaching
Steve Spagnuolo is widely regarded as one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, known for creative pressure schemes and heavy blitz packages. Interior pass rusher Chris Jones remains a dominant, game-wrecking force on a Hall of Fame trajectory.
Recent Performance
Last season, the unit finished 6th in points allowed and 10th in total yards allowed, outranking the team’s offense in both categories. The Chiefs defense looked fantastic in a suffocating Week 1 performance against the Denver Broncos, but faced more struggles trying to contain the run and handle targets against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.

Perhaps Slowik and his staff found some chinks in the Chiefs defense’s armor?
