The Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver room could be a major problem entering the 2026 season.

Miami spent the offseason signing Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, Jalen Reagor and Terrace Marshall Jr., hoping one of them would emerge as a reliable playmaker during training camp.
So far, that hasn’t happened.
Instead, Caleb Douglas and Malik Washington – the two receivers atop the Dolphins’ initial depth chart – have made stronger impressions throughout camp.
That could leave Miami searching for another proven weapon.
Could Keenan Allen be the answer?
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton believes Keenan Allen, the most talented wide receiver currently on the market, could make sense for the Dolphins.
“ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Miami Dolphins ‘reached out to’ Stefon Diggs before he signed with the Washington Commanders,” Moton wrote. “If the Dolphins had some level of interest in Diggs, they could also be in contact with Keenan Allen.”
Allen would bring something Miami’s current receiver group doesn’t have: proven production.
In his second stint with the Los Angeles Chargers last season, the six-time Pro Bowler caught 81 passes for 777 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games.
At 34, Allen is no longer the dominant receiver he once was, but he remains a reliable target who can line up inside or outside and give an inexperienced quarterback a dependable safety blanket.
That could be especially valuable for Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis, who is entering his first season as a full-time starter without an established go-to target.
Miami doesn’t currently have a wide receiver or tight end who has ever topped 49 catches in a season.
Allen could change that immediately.
The Dolphins are in the first year of a rebuild under coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, and they have been reluctant to load up on veterans. Miami wants to see whether its young, unproven players can become part of the foundation moving forward.
But if the Dolphins were willing to inquire about Diggs, there’s little harm in kicking the tires on Allen.
He would bring a different skill set to the room and give Willis a proven third-down target who knows how to get open and move the chains.
If the price is right, Allen could make plenty of sense for Miami.
The Dolphins, however, will likely give their young receivers every opportunity to prove they can handle the job before making another move.
