Titans Safety Tony Adams Ejected From Practice for Throwing Punch at Teammate

The Tennessee Titans can’t catch a break when it comes to bad news following their recent win over the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday. That includes a major incident at practice that has started making headlines for the wrong reasons.

Adams ejected for fight with Ayomanor

Tony Adams was the player ejected for fighting on the field. The reason he was ejected while others weren’t is that he threw a punch and was the only player caught doing so. Adams attempted to throw a punch at Elic Ayomanor, a wide receiver who has made real ground in the wide receiver rotation since the start of camp.

Throwing a punch is bad enough, but considering everything that has played out during training camp before this incident, it’s even worse. That includes a punch thrown by Jeffery Simmons, which resulted in him being ejected from team practice. He still got work off to the side, though it’s unknown if Adams did the same, as Titans head coach Robert Saleh neither confirmed nor denied it during his Monday press conference following practice.

Saleh explains bickering versus fighting

“It was fine. They’re always going to be scrappy. As long as we aren’t out there throwing punches, I couldn’t care less about the scuffles,” Saleh originally said when discussing the first fight that broke out between Jeffery Simmons and JC Latham, which was just arguing.

The next day, he had no choice but to face the problem again, as this is when punches were thrown yet again.

“It’s the second day of pads; it’s hot, it’s muggy. You’re expecting it. Especially with the way that the offensive line and defensive line get after it, so it’s just a reminder that we’ve got work to do. It’s okay. I’ve got brothers, and we fight all the time, but at the end of the day we’ll still take care of one another and make sure we’re good getting the work done that we need to get,”

While he put the blame on the second day of pads, that explanation went out the window, as the Titans have since ejected three more players, including Adams, for the same exact reason. It’s a concerning sign that Saleh may have lost the locker room.
