J. Cole’s concert Thursday night at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center was canceled after a member of his touring crew died in an early morning big rig crash on Interstate 5 in Yolo County, concert promoter Live Nation announced.

The crew member was driving a semi-truck that veered off southbound I-5 and overturned south of Zamora about 6 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
“Following the tragic passing of a member of the touring crew in a trucking accident this morning, J. Cole’s performance at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento tonight, August 27, has been canceled,” Live Nation said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
“Our thoughts are with the crew member’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the concern promoter said.
The solo-vehicle crash carrying equipment for the rapper’s concert tour occurred south of County Road 95, according to the CHP’s Woodland office. The truck was carrying gear from Tuesday night’s show at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
A preliminary investigation found the driver of a Volvo semi-truck towing a trailer traveled off the freeway and onto the right shoulder, officers said. The driver tried to return to the roadway by turning left but lost control of the truck, causing it to overturn.
The driver, who was the only person in the truck, died from injuries at the scene. The Yolo County Coroner’s Office has not identified the driver as of Thursday afternoon.

Alcohol and drugs were not believed to have contributed to the crash, said the CHP, which continues to investigate.
The Sacramento show was part of J. Cole’s sprawling “The Fall-Off” world tour, a 73-show run that began July 10 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and was scheduled to take the rapper across North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa before ending Dec. 12 in Johannesburg.
Live Nation said fans who bought tickets for the Golden 1 Center show through Ticketmaster would automatically receive refunds and did not need to take further action. Fans who bought tickets from a third-party reseller should contact their point of purchase, Live Nation said.
The rapper was next scheduled for two shows at Oakland Arena on Saturday and Sunday, followed by performances in Southern California beginning Tuesday in Los Angeles.
It was not immediately clear Thursday afternoon whether the Oakland concerts or other upcoming tour dates would go on as scheduled.
