Former ESPN anchor Jemele Hill is calling out her former employer for what she believes is “hypocritical” behavior.

Hill, the former host of the 6 p.m. E.T. “SportsCenter” with Michael Smith, did not appear to be a fan of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz’s appearance on “College GameDay” in Austin, Texas on Saturday morning.
The former ESPN star took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to call out her former employer for their decision to put Cruz on the air. Hill believes that it’s hypocritical for ESPN to have a problem with some political thoughts and segments in sports, while allowing Cruz to be on the air on their most popular program.
“Did not know ESPN had become a political lobbying firm,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday morning.
ESPN has had problems in the past with their employees getting too political on the air. Is it hypocritical for ESPN to have a problem with that, while then allowing air time for a longtime U.S. Senator like Ted Cruz, no matter what he’s talking about?

College football fans split on the segment, it seems
College football fans appeared to be split on the segment.
“You had nothing to say when Gameday hosted a Democrat governor last season…,” one fan wrote.
“Jemele Hill spent years turning ESPN into a political operation, called the president a white supremacist on their dime, then got fired. Now she’s shocked College GameDay discussed an actual college sports bill. That’s not a principle. That’s a woman who only hates politics when it isn’t hers,” one fan added.
“Hypocritical much?” one fan added.
“Have you ever watched reruns of the show you and Michael Smith had?” one fan added.
