During one of her training camp media availability sessions, then-rookie Paige Bueckers, an avid SZA fan, spoke about experiencing that moment with her teammates.

For those of you who are not familiar with SZA, she is a seven-time Grammy winner, which includes Record of the Year for “luther” (with Kendrick Lamar) and Best Progressive R&B Album for SOS, according to Grammy.com.

As for Lamar, he has one 27 Grammys over the course of his career and last year released the single ‘Not Like Us,’ the biggest commercial song of his career. The song allowed him to sweep the Grammys with five, including prestigious wins for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Yeah, it was very fun, just getting to be around each other as a team, hanging out, and doing some cool stuff. I’m a big Kendrick and SZA fan, so that concert was obviously great,” said Bueckers.

At the time of the team bonding session, the Wings’ roster consisted of players such as Bueckers, Arike Ogunbowale, Maddy Siegrist, Myisha Hines-Allen, NaLyssa Smith, Ty Harris, Ty Harris, and DiJonai Carrington.

“The competition that’s going to start from Day 1 will be incredible for the Wings. … [I] can’t wait to support the coaching staff on the style of play. The exciting belief is that there’s so much unselfishness now in the locker room,” said Wings GM Curt Miller during training camp last season.

“When we say foundational, there’s still no limits on what this group can do. It all started with people and strong character in the locker room…the competition that’s going to start from Day 1 will be incredible for the Wings…can’t wait to support the coaching staff on the style of play…the exciting belief that there’s so much unselfishness now in the locker room…when we say foundational, there’s still no limits on what this group can do.”

Fever & Pacers Creative Director Jas Bell Weighs In on Music Role in Sports

Recently, Indiana Fever and Indiana Pacers creative director Jas Bell (known by many in the industry as Leonardo Chop) reacted to Bueckers’ comments about the Wings using the Grand National Tour stop in Arlington, Texas, as a team-bonding opportunity.

Bell is also the Art Director for SZA and oversees the creative direction for super producer Metro Boomin.

“Honestly, it’s beautiful. I love when culture collides like that. Even for the Fever, we just had Cardi B — she came and did her show at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and she loaded up on Fever product,” said Bell.

“And then, as my helm of design director, Kid Cudi came through and got all Fever products and Fever merch. So, I think that even with them pulling up to the show last year, that’s where we are right now. The athletes want to be the musicians, and the musicians want to be the athletes. There’s a world that merges there, and it brings a sort of connection and a bond that should actually take place more.”

The WNBA season is currently on pause as players such as Indiana Fever Stars guard Caitlin Clark and Center Aliyah Boston, Dallas Wings’ guard Paige Bueckers, New York Liberty’s forward Breanna Stewart, and Atlanta Dream’s forward Angel Reese are amongst the players representing the USA Women’s Basketball team in the 2026 FIBA World Cup.
