Jose Galindo Rivera, 47, appeared in front of Thurston County Superior Court Judge Mary Sue Wilson at about 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 7.

According to previous reporting from The Olympian, Rivera is facing six charges stemming from the 2023 homicide of Lili Rose Crow, including first-degree murder in the course of another crime, first-degree burglary assault, two counts of protection order violation assault, second-degree criminal mistreatment and unlawful residential burglary. He pleaded not guilty to all six charges at arraignment, per procedure.

Judge Wilson set Rivera’s trial for 9 a.m. Nov. 30. He is being held without bail.

Rivera’s attorney has not responded to The Olympian’s request for comment.

Court records said officers with the Lacey Police Department were dispatched on Dec. 11, 2023, to a death investigation at apartments in the 3800 block of Fourteenth Avenue Southeast in Lacey. Rivera had reported he found Crow dead, and that their 4-month-old daughter was also present, court records said.

Crow had died a day or two before police were called, and the infant had gone a substantial amount of time without basic care and feeding, according to the probable cause statement. The infant was ultimately placed into protective custody.

Court records give this account of what happened:

Officers determined that a criminal no-contact order existed between Rivera and Crow, which Rivera allegedly acknowledged on the scene. He allegedly told police the last time he saw Crow was on Thanksgiving Day.

Rivera was arrested that night and booked for being in violation of the protection order, according to the probable cause statement. He was released the following day because Crow’s death was still being investigated and charges had not been filed.

According to the probable cause statement, the Thurston County coroner performed Crow’s autopsy on Dec. 14, 2023, and detectives received results on Dec. 9, 2024. Bruising around Crow’s neck was consistent with strangulation.

According to the probable cause statement, Rivera allegedly admitted to killing Crow to a man a few days after the incident.

Detectives received a letter from a Thurston County Jail inmate on May 13, 2024, that stated he knew of a man named “Bullet” who killed his girlfriend. “Bullet” was allegedly Rivera’s street name, the probable cause statement said. The inmate wrote that the incident in question took place five to six months earlier and provided the exact address of Crow’s apartment, according to the probable cause statement. He wrote that he saw Rivera a few days after the incident exiting the window of Crow’s apartment and was told to keep his mouth shut.

“(The inmate) said he asked ‘Bullet’ why he killed Lili and left the baby with the body,” according to the probable cause statement. “‘Bullet’ responded to him that he just snapped and did not mean to kill her.”

Then Rivera was arrested on Sept. 2, 2026, at apartments in Olympia after he allegedly attacked another woman. Prosecutors charged him with second-degree assault with strangulation and fourth-degree assault in that case. Rivera and Crow’s child was present during this incident as well.

Olympia police arrested Rivera Sept. 2 after he dropped off his daughter at daycare, according to the probable cause statement. He was booked into Thurston County Jail, and Child Protective Services was contacted to take his daughter into protective custody.

Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office spokesperson Tara Tsehlana previously told The Olympian that after Rivera was arrested in connection to the Olympia assault, her office worked with Lacey police to “expedite the conclusion of this investigation and move forward with filing charges. At that time, the child was also placed back into protective custody.”

Rivera was seen in front of Judge Wilson on Sept. 9 for the two assault charges, and he pleaded not guilty to those charges at arraignment, according to court documents. A jury trial for those charges has been scheduled for the same time as his other case.
