A California Highway Patrol helicopter crew based in Paso Robles rescued an injured climber Friday from a 700-foot rock face in the Sierra Nevada on Saturday.

The rescue began about 12:45 p.m. after a climber fell on Power Dome east of Shaver Lake, according to a CHP Coastal Division post.
The H-70 helicopter from San Luis Obispo County responded to the remote area with a two-person flight crew.
The crew picked up a Fresno County Sheriff’s Office helicopter rescue technician before flying to the injured climber’s location.

The rescue team then hoisted the climber from the rock face and transported them to an ambulance, according to the CHP.
Power Dome is a granite climbing area at Courtright Reservoir east of Shaver Lake in the Sierra National Forest.
