Folsom’s Rainbow Bridge will close Sunday. Here’s why and how to get around it

Folsom’s Rainbow Bridge will close Sunday for the inaugural Dinner on the Bridge, the Folsom city officials said in a news release.

The bridge will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to midnight. Drivers were advised to use Folsom Boulevard to cross the American River.

The pedestrian and bicycle paths on the Historic Truss Bridge spanning the American River will remain open, according to the release. The Folsom Historic District will also remain open and accessible.

Dinner on the Bridge is organized by Choose Folsom, an organization that combines the city’s Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corp. and tourism bureau.

The dinner will feature food prepared by Chef Nicholas Blessing of Scott’s Seafood Roundhouse and other chefs from restaurants in and around Folsom, according to the Choose Folsom website.

A 10-minute aerial show featuring 250 drones will take place about 8:30 p.m., the city said.

People who are not attending the dinner can watch the drone show from portions of the Historic District, including the Historic Truss Bridge and the walking path at Lake Natoma Crossing.
