An Irish pub in El Dorado Hills is closing its doors Saturday after more than a decade in the area.

36 Handles Public House at 1010 White Rock Road announced on Instagram that it would be shutting down. The pub operates in the Montano De El Dorado shopping center.
“This was an incredibly difficult decision,” the pub’s social media post read. “ We tried everything we could to keep going, but unfortunately, we were unable to make it work.”
This news comes after the pub filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July, according to the Sacramento Business Journal. 36 Handles Public House had $500,000 to $1 million in estimated assets and $100,000 to $500,000 in estimated liabilities. At the time, manager Gurjeet Singh told the Journal the restaurant filed for bankruptcy to “give the business a path to a stronger financial footing.” The restaurant also faced eviction filings from Landlord Montano Ventures I LLC in 2025 and 2026, the Journal reported.
The owners of 36 Handles Public House did not respond to a request for comment from The Sacramento Bee.

The restaurant opened in 2012, and was named 36 Handles for its 36 beers on tap, according to its website. It also serves typical bar food.
In its closure announcement, 36 Handles thanked the El Dorado Hills community for its support, extending gratitude to its customers, vendors, friends and musicians who performed at the venue.
“Over the years, 36 Handles has become much more than a restaurant,” the post read. “It has been a place where friendships began, families gathered, celebrations happened, and countless memories were made.”
Until its closure Saturday, 36 Handles is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
