More than $886 million in credits will go to some California utility customers on their August and September electrical bills, state officials reported.

The average customer will receive a $75 California Climate Credit, Gov. Gaven Newsom said in a Tuesday news release.
Residential electric customers of PG&E, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric are eligible for the credits. Sacramento Municipal Utility District customers will not receive credits.

The credits are automatic and require no applications.
“These credits are real relief to families across the Golden State,” Newsom said.
The credits are funded by allowances purchased by companies that emit large amounts of climate pollution. Some of the money goes to customer credits.

Natural gas credits will be provided to residential customers in February.
