Federal investigators searched the Beverly Hills home of timeshare magnate Stephen Cloobeck on Tuesday. It’s in connection with an ongoing investigation into former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, who resigned from office in April and dropped out of the governor’s race after five women accused him of sexual misconduct.

Cloobeck did not respond to a request for comment.
“Early this morning the FBI conducted an operation in the Los Angeles region related to an ongoing criminal investigation,” the agency said in an email. “We have no further comment.”
Cloobeck was a former Democratic donor and one-time gubernatorial candidate who dropped out of the race last year and then endorsed Swalwell’s campaign. Swalwell was surging in polls in April until the San Francisco Chronicle and CNN said five women accused him of sexual assault, which he denied.
FBI agents stopped Swalwell in August at San Francisco International Airport and seized his laptop and a cell phone and also searched his Washington, D.C. home as part of an ongoing federal sexual assault investigation. Prosecutors in Los Angeles and New York also opened investigations into the allegations.

Before Swalwell resigned from office and dropped out of the race, he reportedly stayed with Cloobeck at his home, though the two have since cut ties, according to the California Post.
In addition to his connection to the Swalwell probe, Cloobeck was charged earlier this year with trying to dissuade witnesses from testifying against his former fiancee, Adva Lavie, whom prosecutors accused of stealing from men she met online.
