The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office formally charged Edward Lee Daniel Tucker Jr., 36, with murder in the Saturday, Sept. 26 death of 29-year-old Samantha Sue Cromwell.
The murder charge includes an enhancement for allegedly using a 9mm handgun in the deadly shooting, according to the criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Sacramento Superior Court.
Tucker also faces a charge of attempted murder in the shooting that critically wounded Faith Jenkins, according to the complaint. The attempted also includes the 9mm handgun enhancement.
The deadly shooting occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. last Saturday outside the Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park in the 1700 Block of Arden Way across the street from Arden Fair mall. Cromwell’s family has said she was at the trampoline park celebrating her son’s birthday, and that Tucker was her estranged husband.
Prosecutors charged Tucker with firing a gun at an occupied vehicle, indicating in the complaint that Cromwell and Jenkins were in a vehicle when they were shot last Saturday.
Tucker also faces a charge of being a convicted felon in possession of firearm. Tucker has a November 2024 felony conviction for shooting at an occupied vehicle in Fresno County, according to the complaint.

On Tuesday afternoon, Tucker was arraigned in court on the murder and attempted murder charges. Tucker remained in custody Thursday at the Sacramento County Main Jail. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 13 for further proceedings in his case.
Nobody inside the trampoline park had been shot when first responders arrived at the scene, according to dispatch audio reviewed by The Sacramento Bee. Police called for reinforcements in part to help with the crowd as more than 100 people, including children, were initially in the area.
Alyvia Cromwell, Cromwell’s sister, started a GoFundMe online fundraiser to gather donations to help the family pay for funeral costs and support the homicide victim’s 8-year-old son. She wrote on the GoFundMe page that her sister was shot and killed due to a domestic violence situation.
The families of shooting victims said Cromwell and Jenkins had known each other since childhood, and they were there celebrating Cromwell’s son’s birthday, ABC10 reported. Cromwell’s family said she left Tucker, but he followed her and harassed the family.
Public records show Cromwell’s current city of residence was in Fresno, but she also had previously lived in Sacramento County most of her life until 2024. Tucker was listed as possibly Cromwell’s husband in public records.
Jenkins’ family also created a GoFundMe page for donations to help the surviving victim with medical costs and housing. Her mother wrote in the GoFundMe page that her daughter was recovering in the hospital after undergoing surgeries and suffering with breathing complications. She said Jenkins’ child is being cared for by family members.
