The crash reported shortly after 1:10 p.m. involved a Dodge Ram pickup, a Toyota RAV4 and a Subaru BRZ on Highway 50 between Arapahoe Street and Meadow Vale Drive, said Officer Ruth Loehr, a spokesperson for CHP’s South Lake Tahoe office.
The Subaru was driving west on Highway 50 by a 64-year-old Dayton, Nevada, woman. The Toyota, driven by a 63-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman, and the Ram, driven by a 47-year-old Placerville woman, were headed east, according to CHP’s preliminary collision report.
According to the CHP, the Subaru drifted onto the right shoulder, overcorrected and crossed into the eastbound lanes, where it struck the right side of the Toyota. The Subaru continued southwest and collided with the Ram pickup.
The driver of the Subaru BRZ was killed in the crash, Loehr said. Her identity was expected to be released by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office coroner division once relatives were notified of her death.

The other two drivers were taken to a hospital, one with moderate injuries and the other with minor injuries, Loehr said.
The cause of the collision remained under investigation. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors, according to officers.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information was asked to call CHP’s South Lake Tahoe office at 530-539-9500.
