The World Cup is about to kick off, hosted partially by the U.S. for the first time in more than 30 years, making it a must-watch for soccer fans across California.

Even though one of the stadiums hosting matches sits within 150 miles of Sacramento, in Santa Clara, prohibitively expensive ticket prices have made it unfeasible for many area soccer fans from being able to catch a game in person. Instead, many fans will band together at local sports bars and restaurants to cheer on their favorite teams.

Across California’s capital region, many businesses have announced plans to screen some — or all — of the World Cup matches for the most dedicated of fans.

These eight eateries will be a second home for Sacramento soccer heads throughout FIFA World Cup 2026’s run from this Thursday through July 19.

Garden at the Line

In East Sacramento, the indoor-outdoor beer garden on Elvas Avenue will be a main destination for soccer fans during the World Cup, as it will screen all 104 games in June and July.

Local soccer organizations, including Arden Park Soccer Club and the Tower Bridge Battalion group, as well as the Sacramento Republic FC pro team, have partnered with Garden at the Line for its watch parties.

According to the city’s United Soccer League team, Republic FC will be at the beer garden for two of the tournament’s initial games — the Mexico-South Africa inaugural match on Thursday and the U.S.-Paraguay fixture on Friday. The team says it will host giveaways and have special World Cup edition merchandise at the watch parties.

Garden at the Line has more than 60 beers and other beverages on tap, and its adjoining commercial kitchen has food from 10 restaurants, including Sacramento favorites like Kru and Binchoyaki, available for purchase.

The Fat Rabbit

In Folsom’s Historic District, the British pub on Sutter Street is going all-out for the World Cup, encouraging soccer fans to watch every game at the bar with food and drink specials as well as prizes.

The Fat Rabbit developed a World Cup passport program, which incentivizes attendees to stop by the bar for as many World Cup matches as possible and try out all the bar’s weekly food specials. Watch party guests can rack up points throughout the tournament for showing up and ordering food specials, which turn into custom Fat Rabbit soccer-themed prizes.

Prizes include a pack of Fat Rabbit World Cup stickers, a custom soccer scarf, a Fat Rabbit “Futbol is Life” t-shirt and a “Futbol is Life” trucker cap.

Not having a permanent location won’t dissuade the Buenos Aires Grill food truck from serving empanadas, choripan and other South American street food favorites to hungry soccer fans.

The food truck will host five World Cup watch parties at breweries across Sacramento in June, and it will join the Sacramento Republic FC for one of its events at the end of the month.

Buenos Aires Grill will sling Argentinian fare at Jackrabbit Brewing (1323 Terminal St., West Sacramento) on Thursday for the Mexico-South Africa game, and it will be at Bike Dog Brewing in East Sacramento on Friday for the U.S.-Paraguay match. The food truck will be out for watch parties for these three other matches:

  • U.S.-Türkiye, June 25, Movement Brewing

On June 24, Buenos Aires Grill is slated to serve at the Sacramento Republic FC’s block party soccer festival on June 24 at Downtown Park Plaza in Sacramento while the Mexico-Czechia game is live.

Tom’s Watch Bar

Address: 414 K St., Suite 180, Sacramento

As implied by its name, the Downtown Commons bar has plans to show all 104 games with specialty watch parties and upgraded viewing offerings.

Dozens of screens throughout the bar will feature every goal of the tournament live, while food and drinks flow freely. World Cup watchers can enter the live screenings for free, but tickets are also available to guarantee seating. General admission tickets for games with low expected attendance cost $40, which includes a $30 food and drink credit.

Some of the bigger games, including the kickoff match, the final and matches with popular teams, have VIP tickets and reserved table packages. Reserving a table for these high-profile games will cost $20 per seat, limited to two-seat and four-seat tables.

VIP options cost double, at $40 per seat at two-top and four-top tables. These ticket holders will be able to skip the line upon entry and will have access to a designated VIP area, which comes with a World Cup gift bag.

Prost Beer Hall

Address: 9085 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove

As a German beer garden, Elk Grove’s Prost Beer Hall will be a home base for German soccer fans in the area.

According to its social media, the bar plans to show all World Cup matches featuring Germany, the U.S. and Mexico across its four TV screens. For the tournament’s first week, that includes Thursday’s Mexico-South Africa game, Friday’s U.S.-Paraguay match and a Germany-Curacao game at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Additional games may be screened with an advance request, according to the social media post.
