A man was arrested on suspicion of an early morning stabbing at a Live Oak gas station along Highway 99, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at the L & R Gas Station, located on the 9500 block of Live Oak Boulevard carrying Highway 99 in Live Oak, around 3 a.m. The victim, who called law enforcement, told deputies he knew the suspect and identified him to investigators, a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said in a statement.
The victim was taken to Adventist Health and Rideout hospital in Marysville for treatment and is expected to recover. Deputies then searched for the suspect, identifying him as Lester Nelson, a 45-year-old Live Oak resident.

Deputies found Nelson near Pennington Road and Highway 99. He was arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
