Stefon Diggs is in his first season as a member of the Washington Commanders. Now in his 12th NFL season, the 32-year-old veteran wideout is on his third team in as many years.

He signed a one-year, $12 million deal with Washington to become one of quarterback Jayden Daniels’ primary targets alongside Terry McLaurin.
Diggs had a quiet first half during Week 1’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, the four-time Pro Bowl receiver finally got going in the fourth quarter.
During Washington’s drive, Diggs caught his third reception from Daniels, juking out Eagles safety Cooper DeJean. He caught the ball in the red zone and made it into the end zone untouched for his first score as a member of the Commanders, cutting the deficit to 15-17 prior to the extra point.

However, after celebrating, Diggs immediately jumped and hugged the goal post, a celebration that has been banned by the NFL. The referees tossed the flag and the Commanders were penalized 15 yards on the extra point. Fortunately, they were still able to convert.
For Diggs though, that is not the only punishment he will receive. The NFL fines players for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, and given this is his first offense of the season, per the NFL fines and appeals schedule he will be fined $14,926 for his celebration.
If Diggs commits another unsportsmanlike conduct penalty this season, that fine will increase to $20,897.
Diggs will look to keep his end zone celebrations within the rules going forward as he settles into his new role with Washington.
