Two individuals accused of stealing over $5,000 worth of music equipment from a Citrus Heights high school have been arrested after police requested the community’s help.

The Citrus Height’s Police Department have identified the two thieves as a 28-year-old male and a 27-year-old female.
A duo broke into Mesa Verde High School near midnight on Aug. 26 by smashing a window in a door and reaching inside to activate the push bar, according to Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers. The haul included a French horn valued at about $5,000 and a cymbal/drum valued at about $800.

Soon after, Citrus Heights Police asked for the public’s help in finding the two perpetrators, releasing descriptions and surveillance photos from the burglary on social media. The suspects were soon identified thanks to tips from the community and authorities issued warrants for their arrest.

Police also learned that the two had seen the social media posts and had left the area.
On Sept. 1, the Anderson Police Department received an Automated License Plate Reader alert associated with the suspects. Officers located the vehicle and arrested them both. CHPD detectives traveled to Anderson to continue the investigation and say they found additional evidence connected to the burglary during a vehicle search.
