A vegetation fire sparked north of Yolo-Colusa county line, prompting air and ground responses to battle the growing blaze, Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit announced Monday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched to the Rumsey Fire, located at Highway 16 in Rumsey Canyon, around 3:40 p.m. Monday. Just an hour later, the blaze had grown to 15 acres, 10 acres more than when the crews arrived. Burning in brush with a moderate rate of spread, the fire has the potential to scorch 100 acres, Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit wrote in a social media post.
The fire had expanded to 120 acres, according to a 6:54 p.m. Cal Fire Status update. The agency reported 0% containment at that time.

Officials said access to the blaze was challenging to fight, as crews have to enter through Sand Creek Road.
Three helicopters, two air tankers, one air attack, 10 engines, two hand crews and two dozers are responding to the fire. Additional air and ground resources have also been ordered by the agency.
