Law enforcement officers are searching for a 16-year-old girl last seen more than two weeks ago in south Sacramento.

Azaria Higginbotham was last seen near Meadowhaven Drive and Power Inn Road at approximately 4 p.m. on Sept. 4, according to the California Highway Patrol. The agency issued an Ebony Alert Tuesday on behalf of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The alert is in place for Sacramento, Alameda and San Joaquin counties. Higginbotham is believed to be on foot, the CHP said.

Higginbotham was described as approximately 5-foot-4 and 109 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray tank top and pumpkin shorts, according to CHP.
Anyone who sees Higginbotham is asked to call 911.
An Ebony Alert, first introduced in 2024, allows law enforcement to ask the public for help in cases involving “the suspicious or unexplainable disappearance of a Black woman or Black person,” according to the agency. It is intended to help locate missing Black people who are considered endangered because of their age or the suspicious circumstances surrounding their disappearance.
