DeVaux announced Sunday via Facebook that The Cherie DeVaux Foundation has received 501(c) (3) nonprofit status.
DeVaux said the foundation’s mission is two-fold: providing scholarships to students passionate about pursuing career in the equine industry, and supporting organizations dedicated to rescuing and protecting at-risk Thoroughbreds.
“This passion began long before our historic Kentucky Derby victory, and I am beyond grateful to now have the opportunity to bring this dream to life,” DeVaux said.

“Horses have given me more than I could have ever imagined, and I believe with that privilege comes a responsibility to give back.”
The Cherie DeVaux Foundation will hold its inaugural fundraiser, ‘Golden Night at Chophouse 285’ on Dec. 3 in Englewood, Fla. Funds raised will support scholarships for Lemon Bay High School graduates.
“I have never measured my success in wins and losses. …This is what success means to me,” Devaux said.
