Trinity Rodman had to miss out on attending her boyfriend and tennis star Ben Shelton’s biggest match of his career.

The NWSL star had been making headlines throughout the tournament and had been a regular presence at Shelton’s matches. She was seen supporting him from the crowd when the 23-year-old defeated Carlos Alcaraz earlier in the US Open. As a result, everyone expected her to be in Shelton’s box again for the final.
However, with Shelton facing Alexander Zverev in the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Rodman was initially forced to miss the match because of her professional duties.
Her team, the Washington Spirit, played the Boston Legacy earlier in the day, and the result could not have gone worse for Rodman and her side.
Rodman also struggled to make an impact as Washington failed to create many real chances. The loss also cost the Spirit an opportunity to close the gap on league leaders Gotham FC.

Despite her schedule, Rodman ultimately made it to Arthur Ashe Stadium to support Shelton in the biggest match of his career.

The moment became an emotional one for Rodman as Shelton ultimately lost the final to Zverev. She was visibly disappointed after watching her boyfriend fall short of his first Grand Slam title.

Rodman also had a brief interaction with Zverev after the match. The German joked that she had been Shelton’s lucky charm, although it did not work out for him on this occasion.
