A jury found former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill liable of two counts of battery against his estranged wife on Tuesday, but cleared him of eight other counts of domestic violence-related claims.

Through the jury’s verdict, the 32-year-old Hil was ordered to pay his estranged wife Keeta Vaccaro $500,000 in damages. Vaccaro filed for divorce in April last year and amended her divorce petition to include the domestic violence allegations.

The jury also rejected claims that Hill engaged in continued domestic violence and in conduct that caused Vaccaro severe emotional distress. Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Spencer Eig presided over the six-day trial.

During closing arguments, Vaccaro’s attorney Paul Schwiep said Hill set out to break Vaccaro — and said her civil case was about “restoring her dignity.”

“This is a woman who wasn’t trying to build a case, she was trying to build a life,” Schwiep said. “The law, this courtroom, they don’t care how many touchdowns you’ve scored.”

Hill’s attorney Michael Gottlieb questioned Vaccaro’s motives, pointing to her engagement shortly after Hill signed a $54 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. He also poked holes in Vaccaro’s accounts, saying her claims were not backed up by any independent evidence.

“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters,” Gottlieb said. “Her ambition to take his money wasn’t met, so she filled this action.”

The jury ultimately found that Hill battered Vaccaro twice — once on Jan. 11, 2024, and again on April 7, 2025.

In court documents, Vaccaro alleged that Hill became “angrier and more aggressive” during an argument about a postnuptial agreement at their Southwest Ranches mansion on Jan. 11, 2024. Hill then threw Vaccaro’s items around the room and pushed and shoved her to the floor, later ripping Vaccaro’s necklace from her neck, according to the petition. She had a cut and a bruise.

Davie police were called to Hill’s mansion around the same time over a domestic dispute. Hill screamed at his wife and “smashed” an unlit cigar in her face, according to a police report.

In court records, Vaccaro also alleged that Hill entered her home office on April 7, 2025, in their Sunny Isles Beach condo, “put his hands” on her and shoved her, also throwing her computer, according to court documents. He ordered Vaccaro to “get the f— out of my house” before grabbing their infant daughter and pushing Vaccaro’s mother to the floor, according to the filing. Hill then took the baby to the balcony of the condo, which is on the 35th floor, and threatened to leave.

Sunny Isles Beach police were called to the condo. Hill told officers he had “the same rights as a father as her as a mother, and I can take my baby whenever I want.”

Officers didn’t make an arrest after responding to both incidents.

Hill and Vaccaro share differing accounts

Hill testified during the Miami-Dade trial, calling Vaccaro’s claims that he physically abused her as “false allegations.” But he admitted to shoving Vaccaro against the wall during an argument inside their Sunny Isles Beach condo.

“I told her that night …‘Don’t you ever touch me in your life,’” Hill said. “I pushed her against the wall, and I tried to force her to get off me. I created a hole in the wall trying to force her to get off me that night.”

On the stand, Hill also admitted to threatening Vaccaro and said he was “deeply ashamed” of his behavior. He denied hitting her, trying to punch her stomach while she was pregnant, throwing a blunt at her eye and spitting in her face.

Vaccaro filed for divorce in April last year, after police were called to the couple’s luxury condo. The couple got married without a prenuptial agreement in November 2023 and had a daughter the following November.

She claimed Hill became “increasingly aggressive, violent, and demanding.” In her amended divorce petition, she claimed Hill shoved her on the floor, ripped her hair out and tried punching her stomach while she was pregnant.

Vaccaro also testified during the trial, detailing to the jury several instances of abuse. She said the physical abuse began after the pair got married.

On the stand, she recounted an incident where Hill grabbed her hair and ripped it out, threw her belongings and swung toward her stomach.

“I was obviously very vulnerable. I was pregnant, and he treated me like I was just a man,” Vaccaro said. “It was so violent. It hurt me so bad, and I was crying.”

Hill, who is a free agent since getting released from the Dolphins in February, could sign with a team soon, his agent has said.
