The Chicago White Sox made a pitching move ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals, recalling right-hander David Sandlin from Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox announced the move on their official X account, with left-hander Tyler Schweitzer being optioned to Charlotte in the corresponding move.
Schweitzer pitched two innings in Saturday’s 7-3 loss to the Cardinals, allowing one run on three hits. Chicago will now turn to Sandlin for the series finale as the team looks to add a fresh arm to its pitching staff.
Prior to today’s series finale at St. Louis, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher David Sandlin from Class AAA Charlotte and optioned left-hander Tyler Schweitzer to Charlotte.

Sandlin has moved between the majors and minors this season. The right-hander has made five appearances for Chicago, including three starts, and is 2-1 with a 6.93 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 24.2 innings.
He has also struck out 24 batters during that span, giving the White Sox another young arm with some swing-and-miss ability.

Schweitzer, meanwhile, has been a useful option for Chicago out of the bullpen. The left-hander has a 3.06 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 35.1 innings across 17 appearances this season.
The White Sox have had to rely on several young pitchers with their staff dealing with injuries. Drew Thorpe, Ky Bush, Prelander Berroa and Jordan Leasure are among the arms currently on the 60-day injured list.
Chicago enters Sunday at 76-72 and remains in first place in the American League Central. The White Sox have a narrow lead over the Cleveland Guardians, making each game increasingly important as the regular season winds down.
The Cardinals are 73-76 and have already dropped well behind in the NL Central race. After winning Saturday’s game, St. Louis will have a chance to take the series from Chicago in Sunday’s finale.
For the White Sox, the latest roster move gives their bullpen a fresh arm as they try to protect their position atop the division.
