Dan Miller, the longtime voice of the Detroit Lions, has passed away. Cynthia Miller passed away, leaving behind her husband and their beautiful children.
“Prayers for Dan and his beautiful children during this unimaginable pain. Rest in Peace, Cindy, we’ve got him. Cancer Sucks,” Jennifer Hammond shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, this week.
Her family released an obituary.
“Cindy also loved her Lions. The team was part of the fabric of her family and she loved attending every game, 5th row right behind the team’s bench. Some of her best memories were attending the two home playoff games with her daughters in 2024. Her family knows that she will be there in spirit when the Lions win it all,” the obituary read.
“Her larger-than-life presence, generous heart, and wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed, but the love and laughter she brought into the world will remain with her family and friends forever.”

There will be a memorial gathering for Cindy on on Friday, October 16, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, Northrop-Sassaman Chapel, on 19091 Northville Road (at 7 Mile Road). The funeral will take place at 6 p.m.
Dan has often said that his wife and kids love football – and it’s a real blessing.
“My wife loves football (Cindy attends all Lions games), my kids love football,” Dan expressed to Social House News. “When I’d have a Saturday off in the fall, my daughters would come downstairs and ask, ‘What college football games are on today? We’d sit around the TV, they’d have their computers on their lap and we’d watch games. When the noon games were about to end, they’d ask, ‘What games are on at 3:30?’ It was heaven for me.”
Our thoughts are with their friends and family members during this difficult time.
