The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for flights bound for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport as the National Weather Service warned of strong, gusty winds that will persist throughout the day.

Flights destined to Sky Harbor International Airport will not be allowed to depart until at or after 9:45 a.m. The FAA indicated some arriving flights are being delayed by an average of more than an hour.
The wind is also causing gate holds and taxi delays of up to 30 minutes for outbound flights.
