Sheriff’s detectives and West Sacramento police arrested Alexander Chad Lyons, 33, of West Sacramento, on Oct. 1 after receiving information about an online account that investigators said Lyons used to communicate with minors. Investigators serving multiple search warrants and reviewing online account records, files, images and videos uncovered suspected communications dating back several years, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lyons allegedly encouraged and directed children younger than 12 to produce sexually explicit images and videos, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The investigation has identified minors located outside of California, leading detectives to believe Lyons’s online communications may have extended well beyond Yolo County,” Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Yolo investigators are now asking for the public’s help in identifying other potential victims. Authorities asked anyone who communicated with Lyons while a minor, or who knows someone who did, to contact the sheriff’s office.

Investigators were particularly interested in people who communicated with Lyons through Omegle, Discord or other online messaging or video chat platforms, or who recalled communicating with someone using the username animus517.

“Even if you are unsure whether your experience is connected to this investigation, detectives encourage you to come forward, the sheriff’s office said in its statement.
