Mia Bieniemy, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was shot Sunday night at their home in Virginia, sources confirmed to The Star.

Elijah Bieniemy, the son of Eric and Mia, has been arrested and charged in the shooting. He is being held without bond, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said.
Mia Bieniemy, 57, is in stable condition, Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters after the team’s training camp practice Monday in St. Joseph. Eric Bieniemy is stepping away from the team in the interim.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Leah Paul sent a release Monday saying that deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 20000 block of Northpark Drive in Ashburn, Virginia, at 7:32 p.m. Sunday.
Deputies found an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was then transported to an area hospital for “treatment of serious injuries.”
Elijah Bieniemy, 27, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling. He was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and booked into jail at 2:41 a.m.
The address of the shooting is listed as the primary residence for Elijah Bieniemy, according to online property records. Paul said that Elijah Bieniemy was on scene when deputies arrived Sunday evening.
“The investigation is ongoing, and there is not believed to be any threat to the public,” Paul said in the release.
Paul later said that another person who was on the scene was taken in for questioning but later released.

According to audio transmissions captured on Broadcastify.com, fire rescue responders were called to the scene where a 57-year-old woman had been shot.
“Female reported she (was) shot in the chest and arm,” the recording said. “Unable to breathe.”
Eric Bieniemy is back in Virginia with his wife after attending the first two days of Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, over the weekend.
He returned as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator this season after three years elsewhere. When he left the team in 2022, he took the same position for the Washington Commanders, whose practice facility is just four miles from Ashburn, Virginia.
Bieniemy later took jobs at UCLA and with the Chicago Bears before returning as Chiefs offensive coordinator in January.
Elijah Bieniemy’s Monday morning court hearing for his arraignment was continued. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 31 for a preliminary hearing, according to Virginia online court records.
