The deadly crash was reported shortly before 7:40 p.m. along the northbound lane of County Road 85, just north of the Cache Creek Bridge, the CHP Woodland area office announced Monday in a news release.

The CHP said the driver in a Toyota with no passengers was heading north went off the road onto its right shoulder, where it crashed into the utility pole. The driver in the Toyota succumbed to injuries they suffered in the crash.

The CHP said it was unknown whether alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the fatal crash.

The Yolo County Coroner’s Office will release the driver’s name after their family has been notified.
