Kane and England finished 3rd in the 2026 World Cup a few months ago, and the striker is one of the favorites to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or after an amazing season with Bayern Munich.
Ahead of England’s first UEFA Nations League game of this international break, Kane spoke about his future, with a Bayern Munich contract extension on the horizon. When discussing his future, Kane dropped an exciting idea: he may seriously consider joining the NFL.
Kane spoke with many reporters during an England training session at St. George’s Park ahead of England vs. Spain at Wembley Stadium.
When speaking about his passion for American football and potentially being a kicker in the NFL, Kane said, “That is something I will try and look at a bit more seriously. It all depends on what happens in my career over the next five or six years, the motivation, and what I want to do. The NFL is a lot more realistic than the golf one, let’s put it that way.”
Harry Kane Explains How The MLS Could Help Him Join The NFL
Harry Kane clarified that he would not join the NFL while still playing at a high level in football in Europe. Kane said, “If people know I am still on the top of my game here with football, it is not a conversation that would be had.”
However, Kane shared an exciting idea for how he could see himself playing in the NFL: by playing for an MLS club while also being an NFL kicker.

Kane said, “Maybe if I am in the MLS in the future or somewhere like that it might be a thing where you could connect the two, with the seasons. But it is in the back of my mind because right now, I am feeling that I want to play as long as I can here.”

The England striker insists it would take him time to train to become a professional NFL kicker and understands he will need time to practice.
Kane said, “I take penalties, and it is a very similar pressure and technique. If I did that, in terms of training, I would be closer to that more than to any other sport. But as I know, with all elite sports, when you watch it on TV, people make it look easy, and you think it is possible, but that is not always the case.”
Harry Kane shared that he had considered becoming an NFL kicker in the past because of his passion for the sport and his years of following it.
