RockSalt Pilates has opened its first Sacramento-area location at 4120 Douglas Blvd. in the Nugget shopping center along Sierra College Boulevard. The studio offers “music-driven” classes weekly, with each course led by specific playlists of music, according to its website.

The Granite Bay studio is owned by Evi Tsigaris, Dimitra Tsigaris, Yiota Fanourgiakis and Paulette Taptelis. The location officially opened on Monday, Evi Tsigaris said. The studio aims to challenge participants while creating a supportive environment, she said.

The group decided to open the location in Granite Bay because the area lacked a fitness studio like RockSalt, Evi Tsigaris said. The neighborhood is also close to where they grew up, having been raised in Folsom.

“We wanted to open a place where fitness just feels less like a chore and a routine and something you actually look forward to,” Evi Tsigaris said. “RockSalt brings more of a universal strength and a different kind of community that makes working out just fun and super empowering.”

The family are all entrepreneurs, owning local restaurants and coffee shops, according to Tsigaris.

RockSalt — a franchise with 13 locations in California and Arizona — offers three types of classes: Stretch, Strength and Sweat. Stretch combines light cardio with exercises focused on flexibility and controlled movement. Strength incorporates mat and reformer Pilates, while Sweat combines cardio, resistance training and reformer exercises, according to the studio’s website.

Classes can be booked on Mindbody, an appointment management and scheduling app, Tsigaris said. A new participant’s first class costs $20, while monthly memberships range from $99 to $259. Drop-in classes are available at the Granite Bay for the same price.

The studio’s hours vary by class schedule, with sessions starting as early as 6:15 a.m. and as late as 6 p.m., according to its website.
