Luther Burden III has quickly become one of the most popular players among Chicago Bears fans since being drafted, and that’s for good reason.

Although Burden ended up getting drafted in round two at pick No. 39, as Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball writes, “Despite the dip in production, Burden was considered to be a potential late first-round pick. Thus it was a surprise when Burden slid to the 39th pick in the draft.”
Regardless, Burden had a number of big games as a rookie, giving Bears fans hope for the future. On July 29th at Bears training camp, Clay Harbor gave Burden some very good praise on X:
“Luther Burden looked quick and twitchy today. Had a couple very nice routes. One play against Devin Bush in zone spun him around with his release and stem showing great recognition of the coverage.”
Although this isn’t the same as Burden dominating in a real game, hearing positive reports about a young receiver is always nice to hear.
Luther Burden III Rookie Year Production
Burden will be looking to be more consistent but also build on what he did as a rookie. Over the course of the entire 2025 season, Burden played in 15 games, but Pro Football Reference only has him listed as starting in five.

Regardless, Burden had 47 catches on 60 targets for 652 yards and two touchdowns. That comes out to a 13.9 Y/R mark and also 43.5 Y/G.
That said, Burden had three games with at least 80 yards, and two of them came near the end of the season. In Week 15, Burden had six catches for 84 yards, and in Week 17 he had eight catches for 138 yards and a touchdown.
Burden didn’t have any huge games in the playoffs, with less than 50 yards in both weeks, but he was targeted seven times in each game. That goes to show how Chicago wants him to be a bigger part of this offense.
Although Burden looking good in practice doesn’t mean he’s going to be a star, it’s another encouraging piece of information that supports his potential for a big year two.
