In a busy day for roster moves, three New York Jets are headed to injured reserve, and the team has signed two players to the active roster and two to the practice team.

The Jets placed defensive lineman David Onyemata, linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball and wide receiver Arian Smith on the injured reserve list. They must miss four games before being allowed to return.
They also signed wide receiver Malik McClain, defensive lineman Jack Heflin, and linebacker Troy Reeder to the active roster, and added DT Isaiah Loudermilk and TE Cody Hardy to the practice squad.
The Jets have been fortunate that the injuries so far have been confined to depth players. All skill positions are relatively healthy, with the starters expected to be a full-go for the upcoming game against the Detroit Lions.
The Jets are 1-1 headed into the Detroit game, the second of three straight contests against NFC North teams. The game marks a homecoming of sorts for head coach Aaron Glenn, who was the defensive coordinator for the Lions before getting the top job with the Jets. He faces a tough assignment in stopping a high-powered Detroit offense led by quarterback Jared Goff, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
McClain had three catches for 33 yards in the preseason with the Jets. He joined the practice squad on Aug. 31 after signing as an undrafted free agent.
Heflin is a 6-3, 304 baller who also joined the practice squad on Aug. 31. He had 14 tackles in the three preseason games with the Jets. He came to the team after appearing in seven NFL games with the Packers, Giants, Saints and Rams.

Reeder (6-3, 245) was elevated from the practice squad for Week 2 and played 25 snaps on special teams against the Green Bay Packers.
Onyemata played in the first two games of the season with the Jets before going down with a groin injury versus the Packers. He was a fourth-round choice of the New Orleans Saints in the 2016 draft. He played there for seven seasons, then joined the Atlanta Falcons in 2023. He has 31 sacks in his 156-game career, including a high of 62 tackles in 2025.
Smith suffered a knee injury against the Packers. A fourth-round pick in 2025, he was in for just three offensive plays this season.
Loudermilk spent the summer with the Minnesota Vikings before being one of their last cuts. A former Pittsburgh Steeler for five seasons, he has one sack in his 60 career games.
Hardy was waived by the New Orleans Saints at the end of August. He played in all three preseason games with the Jets.
