Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today

Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds NRFI (-115)

Dodgers LHP Tarik Skubal comes into this start at 9-7 with a 2.84 ERA. His first-inning ERA isn’t the best at 4.30, but he has kept it clean in two of his last three turns. If you’re worried about the ballpark, he has one career start at GABP, and he allowed one run in seven innings and fanned 13. The Reds roll with LHP Nick Lodolo, who’s a much better pitcher than his 3-4 record and 5.12 ERA would indicate. His first-inning ERA sits at 3.50.

Detroit Tigers at Toronto Blue Jays NRFI (-135)

RHP Troy Melton takes the ball for the Detroit Tigers at 8-4 with a 2.42 ERA. He’s solid with a 3.50 ERA in the first inning. Trade deadline acquisition Jose Soriano goes for the Jays at 12-7 with a 3.48 ERA. He has been great in the first frame with a 1.86 ERA and 31 K’s in 29 IP.

Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs YRFI (-120)

RHP Reynaldo López goes for the Braves at 4-4 with a 4.13 ERA. He has struggled badly in the first with a 6.75 ERA and a .377 opponents’ batting average in 12 opening frames. The Cubs turn to LHP David Peterson at 7-8 with a 5.28 ERA. His first-inning ERA sits at 6.75 with a .321 opponents’ batting average.

What Do NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?

The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, there will be a run in the first inning. It doesn’t matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
