A Tesla driver was killed early Wednesday after crashing into the back of a tractor hauling grapes in Elk Grove, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported about 5:40 a.m. on eastbound Kammerer Road, east of Lent Ranch Road, in southern Elk Grove, according to the CHP’s South Sacramento office.
The Tesla caught fire after the crash. Cosumnes Community Services District firefighters pronounced the driver dead at the scene, the CHP said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was expected to release the driver’s name after notifying the person’s family.
