Tyler Mahle had a simple reaction after Bryce Harper hit a home run against him during Saturday’s matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies.

Harper launched a 426-foot solo shot off Mahle in the first inning of Atlanta’s eventual 12-2 win. The Phillies star then took an unusually slow trot around the bases, drawing attention because of the recent conversation surrounding Ronald Acuña Jr.’s home run celebrations.
Mahle did not appear interested in turning the moment into a controversy.
“Good for him. He hit a bomb,” Mahle said, as reported by Barrett Sallee on X.

The home run was Harper’s 28th of the season and gave Philadelphia an early 1-0 lead. Mahle, however, quickly settled down and kept the Phillies from doing further damage.
The Braves right-hander completed seven innings, allowing six hits and one earned run while walking nobody and striking out three. His only run allowed came on Harper’s first-inning blast.
That performance continued an impressive stretch for Mahle since joining Atlanta. He is now 3-1 with a 1.25 ERA across seven starts with the Braves, giving the club another dependable option in the rotation down the stretch.

Harper’s home run was notable beyond the box score because of the timing. Zack Wheeler had recently drawn attention for comments about Acuña’s celebrations, and Harper’s slow trot appeared to be a playful response to that discussion.
Mahle, though offered no objection. Instead, he focused on the quality of the hit.
The Braves ultimately took control of the game with a eight-run fourth inning and cruised to the 12-2 victory. The win pushed Atlanta to 88-61 and extended its NL East lead over Philadelphia to six games.
For Mahle, the message was straightforward: Harper hit a long home run, and there was no reason to make anything more of it.
