SAN JOSE – The San Jose Sharks will have a bigger presence nationally this upcoming season than they have in recent years.

With the growing profile of center Macklin Celebrini and the Sharks expected to compete for a playoff spot this season, four of the team’s games will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+ and seven others shown on national television, with four on TNT and three on ESPN, the cable networks announced Wednesday.
In each of the last two seasons, just six Sharks games were shown on national platforms.
This season, ESPN+ will carry the Sharks’ road games at St. Louis on Oct. 8, at New Jersey on Dec. 1, at Vegas on March 9 and at Chicago on March 16.
ESPN+ is increasing its monthly and annual pricing. Starting Sept. 17, the streaming service will go from $12.99 to $13.99 per month, while the annual plan will increase from $129.99 to $139.99 per year. This season, 47 NHL games will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+, Disney+ and Hulu.
ESPN will carry the Sharks’ 8 p.m. home game against the Boston Bruins on Oct. 13, as part of the NHL’s Frozen Frenzy when all 32 teams play on the same day in staggered start times. The network will also show San Jose’s home games against the Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 27 and the Blues on April 4.
TNT will carry four Sharks games this season after showing just one last season. They will broadcast the Sharks’ games in Los Angeles on Nov. 4 and Dec. 9, the road game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Dec. 16, and the home game on Feb. 10 against the Blackhawks.
NBC Sports California has not yet released its Sharks broadcast schedule for this season but will televise all remaining games, including the season and home opener against the Florida Panthers on Oct. 1. The Sharks’ season opener has been on ESPN+ the previous two years, including Celebrini’s NHL debut on Oct. 10, 2024.
The 11 Sharks games on national television or ESPN+ are still among the fewest for any U.S.-based team, with 17 other American teams being shown more often. Leading the way are the Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins with 20 appearances each, followed by the Philadelphia Flyers (19) and the New York Rangers (18).
Celebrini is coming off a spectacular 2025-26 season in which he nearly led the team to a playoff spot and was fourth in the NHL in scoring with 115 points, breaking the Sharks’ single-season record of 114 set by Joe Thornton in 2006-07.
Celebrini was also the second-leading scorer at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, with 10 points in six games as he and the Canadian team lost a memorable gold medal game to the United States in overtime.
Celebrini was also a finalist for the Ted Lindsay Award, given to the NHL’s most outstanding player as voted by the NHLPA. Earlier this offseason, the Sharks signed Celebrini to a five-year, $94 million contract extension that begins in 2027-28. The $18.8 million average annual value of the contract is set to be the richest for any NHL player, although that number could be surpassed before the start of the 2027-28 season.
With several additions, the Sharks are expected to challenge for a playoff spot once again this year, and will be looking to make their first postseason appearance since the 2018-19 season.
