When Sacramento County voters go to the polls Nov. 3 for state and national elections, they’ll also be casting ballots for new city council and school board members, among other races.

What local races are on the ballot Nov. 3?
Here’s what to know about some of the key local races. See the Sacramento County elections office for a full list of races and candidates on the ballot.
Sacramento County races
Board of Supervisors: The District 1 supervisorial seat in Sacramento County is up for election. Flojaune Cofer and Eric Guerra are competing for the post.
City council races
Citrus Heights: Three seats on the Citrus Heights City Council are up for election, representing districts 2, 4 and 5. MariJane Lopez-Taff and Charles Stone are seeking the District 2 seat. Jayna Karpinski-Costa and Susan E. Powers are contending for the District 4 seat. Porsche Middleton is running unopposed for the District 5 seat.
Elk Grove: One seat on the Elk Grove City Council, representing District 4, is up for election. Peggy Parks and Sergio D. Robles are competing for the seat.
Folsom: Voters will cast ballots on three seats on the Folsom City Council, representing districts 1, 3 and 5. Paul Kerfeld, Mike Kozlowski and Chad Vander Veen are seeking the District 1 seat. Candidates for the District 3 seat are Sarah Aquino and Jagadish Nagendra, Justin Hurst and Anna Rohrbough are competing for the District 5 post.
Galt: Three seats on the Galt City Council are up for election, representing districts 1, 3 and 5. Mark A. Jackson and Bonnie Rodriguez are running unopposed for the districts 1 and 3 seats, respectively. Paul Sandhu and Tom Silva will face each other for the District 5 seat.
Rancho Cordova: Two Rancho Cordova City Council seats are up for election, representing districts 2 and 5. In District 2, Elliott Stevenson is running unopposed. In District 5, Linda Budge, Lilia Darbinyan and Tegan Mauldin are seeking the position.
Community college races
Los Rios Community College District: Three seats on the board of trustees are up for election in November, representing areas 1, 2 and 6. In Area 1, the candidates are Devon Graves, Magdalena T. Gonzalez and D’Andrea Chapman. In Area 2, Oranit Limmaneeprasert, Mark Gregg, Paula Villescaz, Tim Loree, Marin Ross, Sukdip “Steve” Chima, Phil Davis, Myisha Rachelle Robinson and Jonathan Brownell are contending for the post. In Area 6, Deborah V. Ortiz, Zima Creason, Pearl Koven, Keith Ellis and William Thomas Bernal are on the ballot.
Utility district races
Sacramento Municipal Utility District: Seats on the Sacramento Municipal Utility District board of directors representing wards 3, 4, 6 and 7 are on the Nov. 3 ballot. Candidates for the Ward 3 post are Gregg. B. Fishman, Scott Slotterbeck and Pamela Stathos. In Ward 4, Rosanna J. Herber and Scott Tse Lau face each other. In wards 6 and 7, Dave Tamayo and Heidi Sanborn, respectively, are running unopposed.
School district races
Elk Grove: The Elk Grove Unified School District board has three seats up for election, representing areas 2, 4 and 5. Kirk Tomson and MIchael Vargas face each other in the Area 2 race. In Area 4, Delia Baulman and Craig J. Townsend are contending for the post. In Area 5, candidates are Varinder Sinch, Rachell Reinwald and Elena Trukhan.
Folsom-Cordova: In the Folsom-Cordova Unified School District, seats in areas 1, 3 and 5 are up for election in November. Chris Fredrich and Kara L. Lofthouse are seeking the Area 1 seat. In Area 3, David Reid and Susan K. Cunningham are competing. In Area 5, Jen Laret is running unopposed.

Galt: The Galt Joint Union HIgh School District board of trustees has seats in areas 1, 2 and 4 up for election. In Area 1, Mark Beck is running unopposed. Dennis Richarson also is running unopposed in Area 2. In Area 4, Melissa J. Neuburger and Daniel K. Denier face each other.
Ballot measures
Measure D: Voters in the Natomas Unified School District will vote on a $300 million bond to repair, construct, and acquire school classrooms
Measure E: Voters in the Center Joint Unified School District will vote on a $197 million bond to improve school facilities, safety and classrooms.
Measure G: Voters in the Galt Joint Union High School District will vote on a $43 million bond for classroom upgrades, vocational training facilities, roof repairs, and asbestos and mold removal.
Measure H: Voters in the Los Rios Community College District will vote on a $$1.1 billion bond for college and career-training facilities, safe drinking water and roof repairs
Measure I: Voters in Folsom will decide whether the City Council shall appoint the city attorney.
Measure J: Voters in Folsom will decide whether the City Council can grant decision-making authority to city boards and commissions through an ordinance.
Measure K: Voters in Folsom will decide whether to increase the campaign contribution limit for council campaigns from $150 to $500 per donor per election.
Measure M: Voters in the Sacramento City Unified School District will vote on an annual parcel tax of $95, subject to annual inflation adjustments, for special education and early-intervention programs.
Ballots will also include statewide races, such as the governor’s race. There are several voter organizations across the state to help voters research their ballot.
The Sacramento Bee will publish its own Voter Guide Oct. 5.
That same date county elections officials will begin mailing ballots.
Voters can register by mail or online by Monday, Oct. 19, or they can register in-person at the polls on Election Day.
