The body of a man recovered last week from the American River remains unidentified as Sacramento County authorities appealed to the public Thursday to help identify him.

Two passersby discovered the man’s body Sept. 13. The body showed no signs of trauma, Sacramento County coroner’s officials said. The man, believed to be 20 to 40 years old and Hispanic, Asian or of mixed race, carried no personal documents, and fingerprints offered no clues.
He was wearing what officials described as active gear and was 5-foot-7 and 175 pounds with straight, long black hair and brown eyes. He had a black mustache with a black beard or goatee. The man had no identifying marks, scars or tattoos, coroner’s officials said.

Medical examiners were still determining the cause and manner of the man’s death, Sacramento County officials said in their appeal released Thursday.
