The Washington Wizards have already said they have no interest in trading Davis, especially since he’s eligible for a contract extension. Nonetheless, trade rumors involving the All-Star forward just keep on coming up.

Initially, there were rumblings about the Golden State Warriors acquiring Davis and then signing LeBron James in free agency. They proved on the Los Angeles Lakers that they work quite well together.

The latest rumor, however, involves Davis and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Fans believe the Wizards have made Davis expendable this Friday by sending guard Jaden Hardy and two second-round picks to the Lakers for center Deandre Ayton.

Even though Davis is a far superior player than Ayton, the NBA community is convinced the Wizards-Lakers trade opened up the door for his departure.

“AD to the Cavs incoming I hate it but I feel it coming,” one fan said.

“Gut feeling that LeBron and Anthony Davis both end up in Cleveland,” a second fan commented.

“AD is good, he’s what people thought Mobley would be by now,” a Cavaliers fan wrote on social media. “We’ve never had a legit big that can score in 3 levels. AD and Mobley complement each other very well Cavs gotta do it.”

What could the Cavs trade for Anthony Davis?

NBA reporter Sam Quinn came up with a trade proposal where Cleveland sends Jarrett Allen, Max Strus, Dennis Schroder and a first-round pick to Washington in exchange for Davis. While that might be a risky deal due to Davis’ health, it’s a risk worth taking.

After all, Shams Charania basically said the Warriors need to land Davis in order to have a real shot at signing James. Why wouldn’t the same rule apply for the Cavaliers?

“The Warriors going into free agency dreamt up a grand plan of Draymond, Steph, LeBron, but the big domino with them is trying to get a player like Anthony Davis to bring LeBron and AD as a package deal,” Charania said. “Short of that, they’re not really looked at as the top of this list.”

We’ll see if the Cavaliers take a huge swing and go after Davis.
